Abbey Library St. Gallen
The Abbey Library is one of the oldest and most beautiful libraries in the world. The present library room was built between 1758 and 1767. The baroque hall of the Abbey Library surprises with its rich Rococo furnishings and is considered one of the most beautiful in the country. The collection of the active library today consists of approximately 170,000 books. The impressive collection of early medieval original manuscripts has made this institution world-famous. Over 400 volumes are more than 1,000 years old.
Säntis
The Säntis, at an elevation of 2,501 meters above sea level, is the highest mountain in the Alpstein range (Alps) and is the symbol of our region. During and after the hike, you will enjoy the unique mountain scenery and its views and vistas. At the summit, you will find a large sun terrace, scenic panoramic restaurants, and an interactive exhibition area with fascinating displays. From the summit of Säntis, you can see six countries: Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, Italy, and France. From the summit, the Säntis cable car glides back down to the valley, returning to Schwägalp.
The Rhine Falls
It is one of the largest and most water-rich waterfalls in Europe, measuring 23 meters in height and 150 meters in width. Located just a few kilometers from Lake Constance, the Rhine Falls is one of the major attractions of the region. It is situated to the west of the Untersee in Switzerland and attracts numerous travelers who can enjoy a fascinating view of the cascading water masses between the rocks from several platforms. Another viewpoint is the Wörth Castle, located on an island in the Rhine.
Lake Dwelling Museum Unteruhldingen
Discover the World Heritage Site "Pfahlbauten" (Pile Dwellings), walk on a platform over Lake Constance, and let yourself be fascinated by ancient techniques from the Stone Age - the pile dwellings make a long-lost, submerged world come alive again. The pile dwellings of Unteruhldingen are over 100 years old.
Salem monastery
Nestled amidst expansive parks and gardens lies the former monastery and current Salem Castle. The magnificent monastery complex, originally built by the Cistercian monks in the 12th century, came into the possession of the Margraves of Baden in 1802 and has been part of the State Castles and Gardens of Baden-Württemberg since 2009.
